What is the Lapeer District Library's service area?

The Lapeer District Library serves residents in Arcadia Township, Burlington Township, Burnside Township, Deerfield Township, Elba Township, Goodland Township, Hadley Township, Lapeer Township, the City of Lapeer, Marathon Township, Mayfield Township, Metamora Township, Oregon Township, and Rich Townships.

The Lapeer District Library has a contractual arrangement in which operational millage funds collected in Arcadia, Deerfield & Rich Townships are disbursed to the North Branch Township Library.

What the Lapeer District Library Has Accomplished in the last six years:

2000
A grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation installed computers at deAngeli, Otter Lake and Clifford branches, work stations at the other five branches, and a dedicated internet connection at the Clifford Branch.

2001
The Library introduced "Smart Cards" for Internet access.

2002
The Library received a grant from SBC Ameritech to support our partnership with the Family Literacy Center through training sessions for new literacy tutors and in-service supplemental training for existing tutors.

The Friends of the deAngeli Branch began to sponsor the library's online book club, an e-mail based program which e-mails subscribers a portion of a book that take roughly five minutes to read.

2003
The Lapeer County Library became the Lapeer District Library on January 1, 2003.

The Goodland Branch relocation and remodeling was completed.

2004
Lapeer District Library staff and Board of Directors held an in-service day to develop a strategic plan which will help determine the future direction of the library.

2005
The Lapeer District Library joined MeLCaT, a state-wide library catalog, giving Lapeer District Library patrons access to nearly 6,000,000 items from around the state.

2006
The Lapeer District Library achieved QSAC Essential status, which indicates that the library is providing all of the minimum standards of library service.
